Hunter died Thursday morning at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis officials suspect he was infected with the Naegleria fowleri parasite while swimming in Lake Minnewaska in Pope County, Minn. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.” Hunter Boutain’s family was “going through everything that we went through,” said Ariola, who lives in Wyoming, Minn. Jim Ariola was devastated when he learned last week that a 14-year-old Alexandria, Minn., boy had died of a brain infection possibly caused by the same water parasite that killed his 9-year-old son in 2012.
